What is a Hope Group?

Hope Groups are groups of 10 - 15 people who meet weekly around a common interest, study, or activity. They are made up of people like you, who want to grow spiritually and connect with others in Christ.

When do Hope Groups start? How long is a Hope Group semester?

Spring semester begins in March.

Fall semester begins in September. Each semester is 8 weeks long.

How many Hope Groups can I join?

Only 2 because of limited capacity and to allow room for everyone to sign-up for a Hope Group.

What about childcare?

Childcare is the resposibility of the parents to schedule prior to their group.

What type of Groups are there?

You'll find 4 different types of groups at HopeNYC:

  • Discipleship and Spiritual Development Groups

    • Discipleship and Spiritual Development Groups are topic-driven studies that encourage and equip new or recommitted believers to grow spiritually.

  • Arts & Skills Groups

    • Arts & Skills Groups are focus groups in which the facilitator provides the fundamentals to a skill that participants will try to mimic or introduces a topic that will stimulate a fun discussion.

  • Ministry Training Groups

    • Ministry Training Groups are designed to equip Hope members to be effective leaders in ministry

  • Fun & Fellowship Groups

    • Fun & Fellowship Groups groups are all about fun! Whether it's bowling, biking, Zumba or self-defense; these groups are a great place to get to know people and never have any homework!

 

When and where do Hope Groups meet?

While most groups meet in a consistent location (the church), some groups may prefer to meet in different locations. Check out the individual webpages for more information.

What goes on at a Hope Group meeting?

  • The meeting starts with an opening prayer as soon as everyone arrives.

  • Ice Breaker or Recap: 5-10 minutes

  • Begin the core focus of group: 30 minutes

  • Sharing and Wrap-up: 15-20 minutes at the end of meeting is used as an open forum to ask questions, eat, share your experience, etc.

 

Who organizes Hope Groups?

The Hope Groups team seeks God’s guidance and senior pastors' input before organizing.
